Community Guidelines
Seen is different from most social platforms. You are not discovering strangers through algorithms or connecting with people based on follower counts. Everything on Seen flows through your real contacts, the people already in your phone, who have chosen to be on the same platform. That shared trust is the basis of this community.
These guidelines exist to make sure that trust is honoured. They describe how we expect every person on Seen to behave, what kinds of content are welcome, and what will not be tolerated under any circumstances. By using Seen, you agree to follow them. Violations may result in content being removed, your account being suspended, or your account being permanently closed.
Be who you actually are
Seen is built on real connections. That means we expect real people. Use your genuine identity when you sign up and interact with others. Creating a fake profile, pretending to be someone else, or deliberately misrepresenting who you are undermines the foundation of everything Seen is designed to be. If you are found to be impersonating a real person, whether a public figure or a private individual, your account will be removed.
Treat everyone with basic decency
Because Seen connects you to people you know in real life, most interactions here carry the weight of a real relationship. Treat people accordingly. Harassment of any kind is not acceptable on Seen. This means you should not repeatedly message someone who has asked you to stop, you should not send threats or intimidating content, you should not coordinate with others to target or humiliate a specific person, and you should not share private information about someone without their knowledge and consent. If a conversation turns hostile, walk away. If someone is harassing you, report them and we will look into it.
No hate speech
Content that dehumanises or calls for violence against people based on who they are has no place on Seen. This includes content targeting people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. You are of course free to disagree with others, debate ideas, and hold strong opinions. But there is a clear line between expressing a point of view and attacking someone for existing. We will remove content that crosses that line.
Keep it appropriate for everyone
Seen is used by people of many different ages and backgrounds. Sexually explicit content and graphic violence are not permitted in public spaces on the platform. If you want to share sensitive content with specific people, use private messaging. Public feeds and profiles must remain appropriate for a general audience.
Any content that sexually depicts, exploits, or endangers a child is completely forbidden on Seen. It does not matter how the content was framed or what context accompanied it. Anyone found sharing material of this nature will be permanently banned immediately and reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and to relevant law enforcement agencies. There is no warning, no appeal, and no exception to this rule.
Respect people's privacy
Do not share information about another person without their consent. This includes their home or work address, their phone number, private photographs, financial details, or anything else they have not chosen to make public. Sharing someone's private information without permission, sometimes called doxxing, is a serious violation and will result in account action. If you received private information about someone in confidence, keep it that way.
No spam, scams, or misleading content
Seen is not a place for unsolicited commercial messages, chain messages, pyramid schemes, or any attempt to mislead people for personal gain. Do not use Seen to run scams, impersonate businesses, spread deliberately false information, or manipulate others into financial decisions. If you want to share something with your contacts, make sure it is genuine and that the people receiving it actually want to hear from you.
Nothing illegal
You may not use Seen to facilitate, promote, or participate in illegal activity of any kind. This includes organising or promoting violence, trafficking people, distributing illegal substances, committing fraud, hacking systems you do not own, or engaging in any conduct that violates the laws of your country. If we become aware of illegal activity, we will take immediate action on your account and report relevant information to the appropriate authorities.
How we enforce these guidelines
Our trust and safety team reviews reports from users and monitors the platform for patterns of harmful behaviour. When we identify a violation, we decide on the appropriate response based on the nature of what happened, whether it is a first occurrence, how serious the harm is, and whether the person involved appears willing to change their behaviour.
For minor first time violations, we may remove the content and send a warning. For repeated or more serious violations, we may temporarily suspend your account. For severe violations, including anything involving the exploitation of minors, threats of physical violence, or coordinated harassment campaigns, we will permanently close your account without prior warning. Some violations will be reported to law enforcement regardless of any action taken on the account.
How to report something
If you see content or behaviour on Seen that you believe violates these guidelines, please report it. You can do this directly within the app by pressing and holding on a message, tapping the options menu on any post or profile, and selecting the report option. Every report is reviewed by a real person on our team, and we take each one seriously.
For urgent safety concerns, particularly anything involving the safety of a child or an immediate threat of violence, please also contact local emergency services and then email our safety team directly at hello@myseenapp.com. We treat these reports as our highest priority.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. The quality of the community on Seen depends on each of us choosing to show up with respect and honesty. We appreciate you being part of it.
