Getting started on Seen takes about a minute. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, open it, and enter your phone number. We will send you a short verification code via SMS. Once you enter it, your account is created. You can optionally add your name and a profile photo right away, or skip that and come back to it later from your profile settings.
Seen uses your phone's contact list to identify which of the people you already know are also on the app. This works through a privacy preserving process where the phone numbers from your contacts are converted into one way cryptographic hashes on your device before anything is sent to our servers. Those hashed values are compared against hashed records in our system. We identify the matches, surface them to you as suggested connections, and then discard the hashes. Your raw contact list never leaves your device and is never stored by us.
Yes, completely. All private messages and calls on Seen are end to end encrypted. Your messages are encrypted on your device before they are sent, and can only be decrypted by the device of the person you are talking to. Our servers relay the encrypted data but cannot read its contents. Not even our own team can see what you have written or hear what you have said in a call. This is how Seen works by default, for everyone, with no way to turn it off.
When you create a post on Seen, you choose the audience before you publish it. A public post will be visible to anyone on Seen who visits your profile, whether they are in your contacts or not. A private post is only visible to people who are mutual contacts with you, meaning they are in your phone and you are in theirs, and both of you are on Seen. You can switch between these options for each individual post, so you always have full control over who sees what you share.
Yes. Contacts access is entirely optional. If you deny the permission or later revoke it through your device privacy settings, you will still be able to use all of Seen's core features including messaging, calls, and browsing the feed. The only thing you will miss is the automatic mutual contact suggestions, since those rely on the matching process that compares your contacts with other users. You can always grant or revoke this permission at any time through your device settings.
Reporting on Seen is built directly into the app. To report a message, press and hold on it and select the report option from the menu that appears. To report a post or a profile, tap the three dot menu icon and choose report from there. Every report goes directly to our trust and safety team and is reviewed by a real person. If the matter involves an urgent safety concern, please also email us at hello@myseenapp.com so we can prioritise your case.
You can delete your account at any time by going to Settings inside the Seen app and selecting the account deletion option. Once you confirm the deletion, your profile, your feed posts, and all associated data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Please be aware that this action cannot be undone. Yes, Seen is completely free to download and use. Every feature in the app, including messaging, calls, feed posting, and mutual contact discovery, is available at no cost. There are no in app purchases, no premium tiers, and no subscription fees. We do not run ads either. Seen is designed to be a clean, honest experience and that extends to how we approach pricing.
If you are experiencing an issue with your account, the first thing to try is closing the app fully and reopening it, or checking that you are on the latest version available in the App Store or Google Play. If the problem continues, try logging out and back in from the Settings menu.
